My art is an investigation into fairy tales and fanciful realities.  Having been influenced by the enchanting work of many a fairytale illustrator, my intent is to create magically merry dispositions in my characters, hopefully recapturing the pleasures and whimsy of childhood.

Working primarily with clay and papers, my work is, for the most part, figurative.  You'll find paper doll puppets, clay and found object sculptures, paper collages, watercolor/pen &amp; ink illustrations with quixotic tendencies among my pieces.

The work I produce is done with a dedication to well-constructed objects using durable materials and sound esthetic considerations.

Up to absolutely no good, but then, who is lately?  Watercolor/pen & ink on watercolor paper, adhered to illustration board and  mounted to embellished chalkboard.  Glazed with matte finish for durability.

Delinquent

I quite like the word Giocoso - it means cheerful or playful….and this cool cat is just that! This little scratcher is mounted to a piano part which seemed suitable enough for a body!  Face is made of stone clay, painted and glazed.  He’s dressed for a concert performance with a long necktie made of papers and glazed. He’s outfitted to hang out by himself or hook him up with an ensemble of his pals …they make way more fuss when they’re all  together!  (see group photos)

This sweet little koala will help you make marks and he’s really no bother at all!!! Watercolor/pen &amp; ink on watercolor paper, adhered to illustration board and mounted to embellished chalkboard. Glazed with matte finish for durability.

Joey

Happy days are here again and The Merry Maker is here to help spread them.  Face is a stone clay sculpt painted with watercolors, body is a watercolor illustration.  In one hand he holds a little paper bird and the other a giraffe illustration.  A sculpted clay bird also finds refuge in his hat. Limbs are hinged with brads and can be repositioned a bit.  Body and inside of box are glazed with a matte finish for durability.  

24” tall x 3” deep x 11” wide.  Made to hang in a happy place.

Mezzo is mounted to a piano part which seemed suitable enough for a body! Face is made of stone clay, painted and glazed. Adorned with clock pieces and a hat of an old lamp part. He’s outfitted to hang out by himself or hook him up with an ensemble of his pals …they make way more fuss when they’re all together! (see group photos)

Mezzo

Materials:  Paper, Illustration Board, Clay, Watercolors, Found Objects

‘Tis indeed the year of the rat, but more appropriately for the times, ‘tis the season of the biggest rat ever!!!  This sculpture of paper and stone clay is encased in a wooden box detailed with a variety of papers and ephemera.  The face is a stone clay sculpt painted with acrylics and the body is made of papers adhered to an illustration board-type material.  The limbs of this wild creature can be moved for a variety of positioning.  Body and inside of box are glazed with a matte finish for durability.  

28” tall x 3” deep x 13” wide.  Made to hang on your favorite wall.
